It was cold, there were a few clouds in the sky. It was early in the morning, the
sun had not rose yet. The first one awake out of all the other cats in the clan, was the
leader of ShadowClan, Phantomstar. She rose to her paws, padding softly over to the
nursery, where the kits stayed with their mothers until they were old enough to explore
the Clan's territory. She smiled at the sleeping kittens and padded off to the Elder's den.
They were all sound asleep. Just as she started to pad off, she heard a soft whine come
from the Elder's den, it was Rushflower. Phantomstar looked in, she was only dreaming.
Her paws twitched and she kicked at the air. Phantomstar laughed and shook her head.
She padded over to the Warrior's den. They were all asleep as well. Next, she padded
over to the Apprentice's den. Here, she checks up on her oldest kit who is now a young
apprentice, Blackpaw. Phantomstar then padded out of the small clearing, into the
hunting grouds of ShadowClan. Though, it was not her place to hunt, she thought she'd
surprise the Elder's this morning by getting some fresh kill for them before they woke.
She opened her mouth slightly, and began to smell her surroundings, she smelled a
dence scent of a rabbit nearby. She quickly dropped down into a stealth-like position,
Her back hinds up, her tail low and her front hinds and chest softly touching the forest
floor, she sniffs out the rabbit, attacking it swiftly from behind, she kills it, with her
razor sharp claws ejected into it's back, her sharp fangs ejected into it's throat, it snaps.
Phantomstar quickly burries it and covers up the pile with some leaves. She hunts for
more, this time, she smells a fox... Her ears rose up, she softly hissed, as the fox was in
her sight. But how could this be? It was only early November... Foxes don't usually show
themselves this early. Phantomstar didn't care, she knew she'd have to fight it off, for
her clan would do the same for her. She slowly began to sneak up on the fox, when
suddenly, she stepped on a twig, it made a loud snapping sound, scaring off the fox.
Phantomstar hissed once more. "Yeah you better run." She said softly to herself. As she
started to head back, she gathered her fresh-kill that she had caught. Racing to each
spot that she had burried them, she took them two-by-two back to the clan, placing
them into the fresh-kill pile. Phantomstar trotted off to her den and waited for all the
cats to awake. Finally, once they woke, she smiled and trotted over to the Elder's den.
"Goodmorning, Phantomstar." Said Stoneeyes, who was one of the elders. "Greetings,
Stoneeyes." Phantomstar meowed, dipping her head. "I see someone got fresh-kill for
us?" Meowed Rippedwing, another one of the elders. "Yes, I got it for you all. I thought
I'd surprise you this morning." Meowed Phantomstar. The elders dipped there heads
and said not another word as they each took something from the fresh-kill pile.
Phantomstar then padded back to her den, the other cats such as they kits, warriors, and
apprentices began to wake as well. The first ones out of the apprentice den were
Stormpaw, Skypaw, Jadepaw, Blackpaw, and Redpaw. The young apprentices stretched
and smelled the beautiful but faint morning smell. "I can't wait for my training today!"
Meowed Stormpaw softly. "Neither can I!" Meowed Skypaw and Jadepaw. "Well, I can't
wait to become a warrior of ShadowClan!" Hissed Blackpaw. "Th four apprentices
laughed. "What about you Redpaw?" Asked Stormpaw. "Huh? Oh... Yeah, can't wait..."
He meowed sadly. "What's wrong Redpaw?" Asked Blackpaw. "Oh it's nothing I just... I
miss my parents." He meowed sadly once again. "Your parents are fine, Redpaw. They
will return soon after they've settled the disagreement between us and RiverClan."
Blackpaw meowed. "Yes, I know, Phantomstar chose them to go... But I'm just worried
that something might happen that RiverClan might get mad, they might not accept our
offer and... and... and.. GO INTO A RAGE AND K----" Redpaw was cut off by Stormpaw
before he could finish. "REDPAW! CALM DOWN! THEY WILL NOT DIE! THEY WILL BE
FINE!" She screamed at him. Redpaw's ears flatten to his head as he lowered his head.
Stormpaw had never yelled at him like that before. Stormpaw looked down as she seen
that she had hurt Redpaw. "I'm sorry Redpaw... I just don't like when you are sad and
start talking down about things." She meowed softly and sweetly. "It's okay Stormpaw."
Redpaw meowed softly at her as he nuzzled her. Stormpaw purred. "Let's go lovebirds."
Hissed Blackpaw. They all laughed a bit and headed over to where their mentors waited
for them to begin their training. Ghoststep took Stormpaw out of the clearing, along
with Venomstream, Silvermist, Lightningstrike, and Jaggedclaw. Redpaw followed his
mentor, Lightningstrike, Stormpaw, following hers, Ghoststep, Blackpaw following his,
Jaggedclaw, Jadepaw following hers, Silvermist, and Skypaw following hers,
Venomstream. Each of the young apprentices and their mentors left out of the clan's
territory through the small clearing and into the forest. Finally, under the three tallest
oak trees, they were given their orders and they quickly went seperate ways. Seeking
out their prey, the apprentices swiftly caught at least five prey within a few moments.
Once it had reached sun-down, the five mentors meowed for their apprentices to
gather up the fresh-kill they had found and to head back to the clan. The sun began to
set as they arrived with lots of fresh-kill. Everyone was hungry. They all raced over to
the fresh-kill pile, gathering around in a circle, they waited for Phantomstar to come
and give the que to eat. Once she did, each warrior grabbed something from the pile.
The five apprentices waiting for the warriors to take their share from the pile, then they
each took something and took it over to the elders. Once they had seen to the elders
getting their food, they got something for themselves. The five apprentices sat outside of
their den, eating their fresh-kill. Once they were done, Phantomstar called for a
meeting. All the cats in the clan gathered around the big rock. The queens in the
nursery gathered all the kittens and gently stepped out of the den and trotted over to
the big rock, sitting quietly off to the side. Phantomstar waited for everyone to find a
place to sit, once they had, she nodded her head, and looked head on. Her deputy,
Ashfall, always sitting at her side, looked out at Redpaw, with a sad look. Redpaw knew
that this would not be a good thing... Stormpaw noticed the sad look on his face, she
curled her tail around him and nuzzled him softly to comfort him. Redpaw purred and
nuzzled her. "Thank you..." He meowed in a whisper. Phantomstar then began talking,
"My fellow warriors, we have word from a recent warrior patrol that we have lost two
warriors tonight. But it is uncertain and we are not sure if it's completely true. This is
what Rushflower had told me that she heard from a RiverClan cat. We cannot trust
them." She then looked down at Redpaw, sadly, "Redpaw... I'm sorry but if this is true, it
was said to be your parents... Reddawn and Fallenleaf. And Redpaw, if this is true, I am
terribly sorry young apprentice." She meowed sadly. Redpaw's ears flatten to his head,
his tail twitched and his eyes filled with water, he tried not to cry, but he couldn't help
it. The tears began to fall, he whimpered and whined. Stormpaw nuzzled him, trying
her best to comfort him, but he was to sad to calm down. Phantomstar called off the
rest of the meeting and trotted over to him. "Redpaw, darling, listen, it's not official, they
may still be alive. Like I said, Rushflower heard this from a RiverClan cat, and you know
we never trust them, they are sneaky, lying and unhonest cats." She meowed. Redpaw
looked up at her with his watery eyes, "Phantomstar, if they are alive... And if you find
out that they are, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!" He meowed. "Of course I will darling!" She
purred. Redpaw nodded his head and headed to the apprentice's den, his tail tucked
between his hind legs and his ears still flatten. Stormpaw trotted after him when
Phantomstar stopped her. "Ahem, Stormpaw? Come here please." She hissed. Stormpaw's
ears flicked, "Yes Phantomstar?" She meowed as she turned towards her. "I would like to
ask you a favor. Can you do so for me?" Phantom meowed softly. "Of course, what is it
Phantomstar?" Stormpaw asked. "I would like for you to keep a eye out on Redpaw, you
two seem to get along well and you seem to have a crush on one another." Phantom said
as she smiled. Stormpaw blushed and she nodded, "Sure Phantomstar, no problem. I can
do that. And well... I have one on him but I don't think he has a crush on me..." She said.
"You don't think so? Oh Stormpaw, darling, it's obvious he does! He's helped you with
your weak points in your training, you've helped him. The way you and him play, it is
not how most friends play." She meowed. "Yeah I guess you are right. Okay!" Stormpaw
purred. Phantomstar dipped her head in dismissle and Stormpaw dipped her head
respectivly and trotted off to the apprentice's den. Redpaw laid outside the den, he was
on his side, his paws stretched out and wide awake. He whined softly. He was the only
other apprentice that was awake other than Stormpaw. The others, Jadepaw, Skypaw,
and Blackpaw were already asleep. Stormpaw softly walked towards Redpaw, she lied
down beside him, nuzzling his soft thick fur. Redpaw looked back at her and smiled.
"Hiya Stormpaw." He purred. "Hi Redpaw. How are you feeling?" She purred back at him.
"I'm okay... I'm worried about my parents, but I know if I let it get to me, it may affect
my training." He meowed. Stormpaw nodded her head. Redpaw rolled onto his back and
starred up at the night's sky, the stars were very bright, he looked to see if Dark Forest
had added any other Warrior's stars. The Warrior's stars were the fallen Warriors of
each of the four Dark Forest clans, ShadowClan, RiverClan, RavenClan, and StoneClan.
Redpaw looked and looked, but did not see any other new stars. He was then filled with
a bit of excitement, "Stormpaw! Look! there aren't any new stars in the Dark Forest
stars!" He meowed happily. "I see, so maybe that means they aren't dead?" She asked as
she rolled over onto her back as well. "Maybe not!" He meowed. The only stars they seen
were Blackstar, ShadowClan's recent fallen leader. Pollennose, Fearedheart, and many
more. Redpaw yawned, "I'm getting tired." He meowed. "Then why don't you sleep?"
Stormpaw purred. Redpaw laughed and nodded his head. "I'm going to bed." He said.
"Alright then. I am too." Stormpaw purred. The two apprentices trotted off into the den.
They laid in the mossy leaf covered beds, circled around a couple of times to get comfy,
and quickly fell asleep. The next morning, everyone was woke to a faint but loud cry.
It came from the nursery. Stormpaw, Blackpaw, Skypaw, Jadepaw, and Redpaw all raced
over to the nursery. The cry was from a young queen, only about 15 moons old, it was
Snowfur. "What's wrong Snowfur?" Phantomstar asked, as she appeared like a ghost.
Snowfur's eyes were filled with tears, "It's my kit! He's missing!! And there's no sign of
him!" She hissed. "Calm, we will find him, Snowfur." Phantomstar purred. Snowfur
nodded her head. "ShadowClan! We need to form groups and find Snowfur's missing
kit!" Phantomstar continued. "I'll take Stormpaw, Redpaw and Blackpaw on a search
along with Jaggedclaw." Ghoststep meowed with a fierce tone. "Very well." Phantomstar
purred. All the warriors, except for a few went on a search for the missing kitten of
Snowfur. The few warriors whom stayed guarded the camp. Hours of searching, there
was still no sign of the little kitten. "I'm starting to think we'll never find him..." meowed
Stormpaw. "Stormpaw, we WILL find him." Hissed Ghoststep. "We just have to keep on
looking." Purred Jaggedclaw. She nodded her head. Suddenly, they spotted another cat.
The smell was not from ShadowClan, it smelled like a RiverClan cat! Ghoststep signled
for the apprentices to stay back and for Jaggedclaw to follow. "Let us make sure it's safe
before we all move in." Meowed Jaggedclaw. "Yes, and if we are attacked, move in and
fight!" Hissed Ghoststep. The apprentices nodded and waited. Jaggedclaw and Ghoststep
walked towards the RiverClan cat, they spoke with him. He hissed and began to attack
Jaggedclaw. The apprentices moved in to help fight, "NO! WAIT!" Hissed Jaggedclaw
furiously. "But you said..." Blackpaw was inturrupted by Jaggedclaw, "I know what was
said! I SAID WAIT!" He hissed once again. Blackpaw's ears flatten on his head as he
nodded. They watched the fierce battle between the two warriors. Finally, Blackpaw
couldn't take it anymore. "THAT'S IT! LET'S HELP MY FATHER!" He hissed. "But Blackpaw,
your dad said to wait..." Meowed Redpaw. "I KNOW WHAT HE SAID REDPAW!" hissing
at him, he ran into the battle, attacking the RiverClan cat from behind. As the young
apprentice attacked, two more RiverClan cats appeared from the Shadows. Redpaw and
Stormpaw each took on a warrior. They fought, blood splattering and fur flying in the
air, they swiftly killed the RiverClan cats like a true warrior. "Father! Father!!!! Are you
alright?!" Blackpaw hissed. "I'm fine my son... Look, over there, the missing kitten of
Snowfur..." He purred as the little kitten meowed softly. Redpaw walked over to him and
gently picked up the kitten by his scruff. The cats headed back to the camp where the
other patrols waited. "SILENTKIT! OH MY BABY! THANK YOU REDPAW!" Snowfur began
purring. Redpaw dipped his head. "Phantomstar, we were attacked by RiverClan cats,
we had to fight to kill..." Ghoststep meowed. "I see. And what of the apprentices? Did
they fight?" She purred. "Like warriors." Meowed her mate, Jaggedclaw. Phantomstar
dipped her head, very well. "ShadowClan! Gather! We must have a ceremony for these
young apprentices." Excitement filled the apprentices. Once everyone was gathered at
around the big rock, Phantomstar began, "My fellow warriors, today, I would like to ask
Redpaw, Blackpaw and Stormpaw to come up here, to join me on the big rock." She
purred as she began. The three apprentices stepped up onto the big rock, by Ashfall and
Phantomstar. "Redpaw, Stormpaw, and Blackpaw, from the form I addressed you in,
please answer I do, or I don't for my following question. Do you accept the offer to
become a official warrior of ShadowClan? Do you promise to follow the Dark Forest
Warrior's code? And do you promise to do whatever you can to protect your clan?
Including risk your own life?" Phantom asked. Redpaw, Stormpaw and Blackpaw
answered in the form that was said, "I do." Phantomstar nodded, and lifted her right
paw. "Then I now name you, Redpaw, Redflare. You, Stormpaw, Stormshadow, and you
Blackpaw, my son, I name you Blackfire." She purred. Jaggedclaw looked up at his son
as he smiled and nodded his head. Solarwind and Heavenlyblaze, looking up at their
daughter whom is now called Stormshadow. Redflare felt a little down, everyone had
their parents to cheer them on but him. He kept his head held high as a faint yet loud
cheer came from two cats in the back of the circle. His ears rose straight up, his eyes
widen, his tail swayed side to side, "Mom?! Dad?!" He purred happily. Reddawn and
Fallenleaf rose to their paws and padded over to their son. "Yes son, it's us." Reddawn
meowed at his son. Redflare nuzzled his father's soft but prickley fur. "I thought you
were dead!" He meowed. "No my son, we are not. For we are here." Fallenleaf purred.
Redflare felt happy once more. Later that night, the three warriors trotted off to the
warrior's den. where they were joined by their parents and the other warriors. They got
so many compliments from the warriors. Redflare looked at Stormshadow, "Stormy?"
he meowed. "Yes Redflare?" She purred. "Come with me." Redflare purred as he got up
and walked over to the willow tree in the middle of the camp. Stormshadow followed.
The moon was high and full. The stars shined brighter than ever. "Stormshadow, I know
we just became warriors... And I know it's way to soon, and I'm not rushing you. But...
I just want you to know something..." He purred as he looked her directly in the yes.
"What's that Redflare?" She asked curiously. "Will you be my mate?" He meowed.
Stormshadow froze, she starred straight at Redflare, her amber eyes locked on his.
"Your... Your... Your mate?..." She purred as she stuttered. "Yes, Stormy, MY mate. No
one else, JUST MINE." He purred. Her eyes lit up and she blushed. "Redflare, I accept."
Reflare yowled in happiness as he tackled her to the forest floor, touching his nose to
hers. Stormshadow giggled. "Oh wait, we should let Phantomstar know we are mating...
So she can approve and allow us to unite as one." Redflare meowed. The two trotted
over to Phantomstar's den. "Excuse me? Phantomstar? Do you have a moment?" Asked
Stormshadow. She crawled out of her den and sat down in front of them. "Yes? What is
it young ones?" She purred. "Well, Phantomstar, I have asked Stormshadow to be my
mate, and I was wondering if you approve and if we could unite as one." Redflare softly
purred. "Ahh, I see. Yes, I approve. You may spend a night under the willow tree." She
purred. "Thank you Phantomstar." Redflare meowed, dipping his head. Phantomstar
headed back into her den and Redflare and Stormshadow went back under the willow
tree. "Well here we are..." Meowed Redflare. "Yes, here we are." Stormshadow purred.
Redflare then pushed Stormshadow onto the forest floor softly, he touched his nose
to hers. "Are you ready?" He purred softly. "Yes.." Stormshadow purred. The two young
warriors began. Faint yowls came from the two. Eventually, falling asleep, the two
lied curled up together under the willow tree in the faint cold air.
